The preparation for laparoscopy varies as per the diagnosis. Your doctor may ask for an enema or fasting. You also need to inform your doctor regarding your intake of any medications and allergic reactions to any particular drug. If required your doctor may advise you to stop the medications you are currently taking.
Post surgery your belly button will be tender because a small incision is made and then your abdomen will be filled with carbon dioxide gas this keeps the abdomen wall away from your organs. Due to this gas post surgery you may feel aching your chest, middle and shoulders. There is also a chance that you may feel nauseated for the rest of the day.
Your doctor will give you specific instructions and the side effects before you go home. He/she will prescribe antibiotics to prevent infections. Depending upon the surgery and complications, the recovery may take a week or a month. And if you have high fever or severe pain, your doctor will advise you for immediate visit.
